DEXIS CariVu is a compact, portable device that uses patented transillumination technology to help identify carious lesions and cracks on or between the teeth, as well as under or around fillings. It is safe to use with everyone, including children and pregnant women.
The DEXIS CariVu, which looks like an intra-oral camera, shines a safe, near-infrared light all around the tooth. This light causes the enamel to appear transparent, while porous lesions such as cavities trap and absorb the light. This makes it possible to “see through” the tooth, exposing with high precision its structure and the true extent of decay (which X-rays cannot do). An image can then be captured as a photograph and shown on a screen.
DEXIS CariVu is an additional diagnostic tool that helps dentists at Soie Clinique Dentaire determine whether a cavity needs immediate treatment or preventive follow-up. It provides an even more accurate and complete picture of your dental health.
